Good News - Dec 2021
Thanks to Julian Grace Foundation
We want to give a special thanks to the Julian Grace Foundation for giving us their unconditional support during 2021. Thanks for contributing to our development plan that helps our staff strengthen their capacities and continually improve, resulting in a more prepared team. We would also like to thank you for supporting our main office renovations, necessary and suitable space for the optimum performance of our staff; it will soon be inaugurated. We are profoundly grateful for your generosity; your continued support has been very significant in overcoming the adversities and challenges presented due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Secret SANta
We began this Christmas season with our Secret SANta initiative. It allowed our followers to choose one of our children from Hogares Nuevo Paraíso and fulfilled their wishes this Christmas. The activity was a success, reaching our goal of 138 gifts that brought great joy to our children.
Commemoration and Birthday Sor
October 16 marked one year since the departure of Sor María Rosa. Our team and beneficiaries paid tribute to our founder with Triduums of prayer, a celebration of Holy Mass, and visits to the cemetery. Similarly, on November 21, we celebrated what would have been Sister's 95th birthday. Our children remember Sister with activities such as poetry contests, dance, and various recreational activities, culminating in the celebration of a Holy Mass.
Volunteer Groups
Miami Country School. We are grateful to the Miami Country School volunteer group for visiting us and supporting us with donations for the Christmas celebrations. Their donations included shoes, clothes, towels, essential hygiene, and biosecurity supplies. Your support means an improvement in the daily lives of our beneficiaries.
Saint Matthews Seattle. We always receive visits from this group at this time of year, and this year was no exception. They assist us in carrying out various projects and share moments of joy with our beneficiaries at Hogares Pedro Atala and transition home, Santa Maria. This year they accompanied our children until the end of the school year and were present for the graduations of our young adults from the program. They contributed to special and deserved celebrations that helped motivate them in their academic lives.
Brigade in Medicines and Cytologies. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Stevens, who provided medicine donations to take care of women in our community. As a result, pap smears were performed on 118 women from the communities of Valle Arriba, Las Cruzitas, La Meza, and Ojo de Agua. Patients detected with an infection were given recommendations and medication.
SAN Homes
Pedro Atala Homes. Our children received visits from their relatives with happiness, fostering their ties and family coexistence. On the other hand, thanks to our dear sponsors from Seattle and Indianapolis, we purchase Christmas gifts for our children. Our children received the love of their sponsors, who have supported them for years.
Nuevo Paraíso Homes. The children have started their vacation period; during this time, Friends of Honduran Children Canada supported us in developing the Vacation Plan. The project's main objective is the development of skills for our Nuevo Paraíso's beneficiaries through activities such as swimming, soccer, painting, and guitar lessons. The 121 children and adolescents will remain active during their vacation period, stimulating the development of skills and acquiring new abilities; this will also help them reinforce their self-esteem and channel their energy.
We are thrilled to inform you that all of our children passed their classes, 65 children obtained an above average (91% -100%), 40 children received a very satisfactory average (81% -90%), and 8 children obtained a satisfactory average (70% -80%). We are proud to see them grow, learn and become great human beings.
Thanks for a special Christmas!
We wholeheartedly thank all the donors who supported our children's Christmas celebrations. Your donations allowed our children and adolescents to have a beautiful Christmas that filled their hearts with joy and hope.

22 Bachelor of Science and Humanities
25 Professional Technical Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
10 Professional Technical Bachelors in Community Health and Nutrition

Twelve students obtained a decent job, and 28 small businesses were organized, helping our beneficiaries have a dignified and better quality of life for themselves and their families.
The impact of the biosecurity kits and basic baskets donated by Swiss Solidarity through Brücke Le Pont has been significant in the lives of our students. It meant the end of many worries; having food for them and their families allowed them to invest their money in other areas needed, such as medicines, payment of services, and others. Likewise, it gave them peace of mind, decreasing the feeling of uncertainty; they were more motivated and full of hope.
